SK hynix, a leading semiconductor supplier, has announced the commercialization of its latest innovation in mobile DRAM technology - Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo (LPDDR5T). With the ability to transfer data at an astounding rate of 9.6 gigabits per second (Gbps), this is currently the fastest mobile DRAM in the market. SK hynix has begun supplying its customers with 16 gigabyte (GB) packages of LPDDR5T, paving the way for its adoption in the latest smartphones.
LPDDR5T is an upgraded version of the 7th generation LPDDR5X and is positioned as the optimal memory solution to maximize smartphone performance. The memory package operates at ultra-low voltages ranging from 1.01 to 1.12V, and can process a staggering 77 GB of data per second. To put this into perspective, it is equivalent to transferring 15 full high-definition movies in just one second.
This groundbreaking development is not only exciting for SK hynix but also for smartphone manufacturers and consumers alike. Vivo, a global smartphone manufacturer, has already partnered with SK hynix to equip its latest models, X100 and X100 Pro, with these cutting-edge memory packages. These devices will also feature MediaTek’s flagship mobile application processor (AP), the Dimensity 9300. The successful collaboration between SK hynix, Vivo, and MediaTek highlights the growing demand for high-performing and high-capacity mobile DRAMs in the market.
