USVs are expected to be a game-changer in naval warfare due to their ability to replace traditional manned vessels in dangerous missions. They can be deployed for surveillance, mine detection and removal, and combat operations. HD Hyundai aims to integrate the autonomous navigation software from its subsidiary Avikus with Palantir’s AI-based mission autonomy technology. This combination of expertise will create a powerful system capable of navigating and executing missions with a high degree of precision and efficiency.
Palantir Technologies brings substantial experience to the table, having worked with major clients such as the US Department of Defense, the Navy, and the Army. Joo Won-ho, the head of the naval special ship business unit at HD Hyundai Heavy, emphasized the significance of the USV market.
