Vietnam’s leading tech firm, FPT, has announced its partnership with Nvidia to build a $200 million artificial intelligence (AI) factory, utilizing the power of Nvidia’s graphics chips and software. This collaboration is expected to accelerate Vietnam’s AI ambitions by boosting AI research and development in the country.
FPT plans to establish the AI factory in Vietnam, as well as potential markets like Japan and South Korea, with the aim of developing AI applications and solutions. The factory will focus on areas such as generative AI and autonomous driving, contributing to the overall growth and advancement of AI in the region. FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh emphasized the company’s goal to transform Vietnam into an AI hub through its partnership with Nvidia.
In addition to the AI factory, FPT and Nvidia have also signed a comprehensive strategic partnership, further solidifying their commitment to collaboration in technology, business development, and training. This partnership aligns with Nvidia’s previous statements about expanding partnerships with Vietnam’s top tech firms and supporting talent development in AI and digital infrastructure.
Keith Strier, Vice President of Worldwide AI Initiatives at Nvidia, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that they are working with multiple operating units within FPT and have specific agreements and strategies for each. Nvidia has invested over $250 million in Vietnam and this new partnership could potentially increase their investment in the country, although details are not yet available.
FPT, with a market capitalization of $5.5 billion, is Vietnam’s most valuable technology company and currently offers a range of AI, cloud, and big data services. In 2023, the company’s total revenues exceeded $2 billion, indicating its strong presence and growth in the tech industry.
This partnership between FPT and Nvidia not only showcases the advancement of AI technology in Vietnam but also highlights the potential for the country to become a prominent player in the global AI landscape.
