Sapeon, a fabless startup backed by South Korean telecom-to-chip conglomerate SK Group, has announced a collaboration with Advantech Korea to develop a new semiconductor optimized for on-device artificial intelligence (AI). Under the project named Compass, which is being run by the state-run government research institute Korea Planning & Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, Sapeon has been selected to receive support in developing prototypes for commercializing AI chips.
