LG to Unveil Revolutionary Smart Home AI Agent at CES 2024

LG Electronics is set to reveal its revolutionary smart home Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent at CES 2024. This AI agent incorporates robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies to create a device that can move, learn, comprehend, and engage in complex conversations. By combining all these features, LG’s smart home AI agent serves as both a home manager and a companion, enriching users' daily lives and showcasing the company’s commitment to its “Zero Labor Home” vision.

One of the standout features of LG’s smart home AI agent is its advanced ‘two-legged’ wheel design, which allows it to navigate the home independently. Not only can the device verbally interact with users, but it can also express emotions through its articulated leg joints. This level of interaction is made possible by multi-modal AI technology, which combines voice and image recognition with natural language processing. This enables the AI agent to understand context and intentions, actively communicating with users.

Not only does LG’s smart home AI agent connect and control smart home appliances and IoT devices, but it also functions as a ‘moving’ smart home hub. Through its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, the AI agent is equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform, enabling features such as face and user recognition. The AI agent gathers real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality, using its built-in camera, speaker, and sensors. LG’s advanced AI technologies analyze this data, continually learning and combining it with external information.

The versatility and scalability of the LG smart home AI agent are exceptional. For example, when no one is present, the device can autonomously patrol the home, moving from room to room and sending notifications to the user’s smartphone if it finds an open window or lights left on. Additionally, it can help conserve energy by connecting with a smart outlet and turning off unused devices throughout the house. When the user returns home, the AI agent greets them at the front door, discerning their emotions through voice and facial expression analysis, and selecting appropriate content to suit their mood. It also assists users with transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, and reminders to take medication.

Lyu Jae-cheol, the president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, commented on the groundbreaking smart home AI agent: “Our groundbreaking smart home AI agent combines cutting-edge autonomous mobility and AI technologies with advanced communication capabilities and services to help free customers from household chores… LG will continue to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home.”

LG’s smart home AI agent will be on display at CES 2024 from January 9-12 at the company’s booth (#16008, Las Vegas Convention Center). With its innovative features and commitment to enhancing the smart home experience, LG aims to establish itself as a dominant player in the smart home market and provide customers with a more enjoyable and convenient life at home.
