South Korean IT solutions provider LG CNS has made a significant breakthrough in the field of secure code generation. The company has developed its own large language model (LLM) for code generation, called “AI Coding.” This innovation allows developers to mitigate the potential security risks associated with artificial intelligence.
In June 2023, LG CNS introduced AI Coding, a service based on ChatGPT, which assists developers in generating code for systems, applications, and services. The AI Coding tool is capable of converting, generating, recommending, and checking the errors in code according to the specific requirements provided by developers. LG CNS has already utilized its AI-based code generation service for building internal systems and integrating and managing systems for its corporate clients.
One of the key advantages of LG CNS' LLM is that it addresses the security concerns faced by companies when using public generative AI platforms. By offering an alternative code-generating service to corporate clients, LG CNS caters to sophisticated customers who are sensitive to data leaks. The company utilized various open sources, including Meta’s CodeLlama, in developing its code-optimizing LLM.
Users can easily implement LG CNS' LLM in their existing cloud or on-premises infrastructure. This approach significantly minimizes the risk of source code leaks and the exposure of customers' personal information. LG CNS' LLM also incorporates an “orchestrator,” a tool that guides and controls the language model according to specific guidelines. It automatically detects, masks, and removes any customer personal information that may have accidentally been inputted by developers.
In addition to the LLM, LG CNS will offer a consulting service to corporate clients to assist them in crafting the most suitable “prompt.” The prompt is the initial input that sets the context or starting point for the language model. With the help of the consulting service, corporate clients can generate more detailed and desired types of responses from the LLM.
When utilizing AI Coding to generate code, corporate clients have the option to choose between LG CNS' own-developed LLM or OpenAI’s ChatGPT. They can make this choice based on their respective industries and sectors. This flexibility ensures that clients can select the tool that best aligns with their specific needs.
