CelcomDigi Bhd has recently launched its CelcomDigi AI Experience Centre (AiX), a cutting-edge hub that aims to accelerate the development of world-class digital solutions. With a commitment of US$53.13 million (RM250 million) by Axiata and Telenor, the AiX is part of Malaysia’s digital transformation journey and promises to inspire and lead the creation of innovative solutions across various sectors.
Supported by a wide ecosystem of global technology players and local partners, the AiX is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Extended Reality (XR), Robotics, Analytics, and Metaverse. It serves as a collaborative space for cross-industry partnerships, fostering rapid advancements and growth for new digital startups, enterprises, and future skills. The aim is to build a flourishing innovation ecosystem that fuels Malaysia’s digital transformation.
The launch of the AiX was officiated by Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Communications, who emphasized the significance of emerging technologies in revolutionizing the world. Idham Nawawi, CEO of CelcomDigi, highlighted the company’s commitment to driving digitalization, innovation, and sustainable growth in Malaysia. “Over 1.5 years ago, we made a strong commitment to play a pivotal role in realizing this ambition, leveraging our greater combined capabilities as a merged company,” he said.
The AiX is positioned as a realization of the national benefit resulting from the merger between Celcom and Digi in 2022. With their combined scale and capabilities, CelcomDigi can attract global and regional digital tech giants to accelerate the development of cutting-edge digital solutions. By partnering with notable global tech and local ecosystem players and investing RM55 million into the center, CelcomDigi aims to support Malaysia’s digital aspirations and ensure that the benefits of advanced technologies like 5G and AI are realized for all Malaysians.
The AiX features two main spaces: The Infinity and The Gallery. The Infinity offers visitors immersive and interactive experiences of digital society simulations, utilizing cutting-edge audio-visual technology. On the other hand, The Gallery showcases a physical array of real-world industrial use cases, demonstrating the transformative potential of emerging technologies essential for enterprise growth. These simulations cover verticals such as manufacturing, logistics, energy, fleet, port, healthcare, education, and agritech, with 13 live use cases being piloted with enterprises in Malaysia.
Another highlight of the AiX is its first AI digital human and resident co-host, AI-RA, who interacts with visitors and explains the diverse use cases on display. AI-RA is accompanied by a family of autonomous robotics that perform various tasks, showcasing the power of AI and robotics in improving convenience and efficiency in different domains.
The AiX also serves as a collaborative space for interested parties, including startups, large-scale enterprises, academia, and government, to co-create, test, and validate new solutions that incorporate 5G and other emerging technologies. The center is powered by a strong ecosystem of global technology leaders, local partners, and solution providers, including Huawei, ZTE, AWS, Ericsson, Microsoft, and SK Telecom, among others.
Visitors have the opportunity to glimpse into the future of the digital society through immersive and interactive exhibits. The AiX’s use cases will be regularly updated to ensure that visitors and co-creators can test the latest technologies and stay abreast of the dynamism of the tech industry.
