Start-up Develops AI Tool 'Divya Drishti' for Robust Authentication

In a significant advancement in biometric authentication technology, a woman-led start-up has developed an AI-based tool called “Divya Drishti” that combines facial recognition with gait analysis to create a robust and multi-faceted authentication system. This innovative solution offers enhanced accuracy and reliability in identifying individuals, according to a statement by the defence ministry.

The start-up, known as Ingenious Research Solutions Pvt Ltd, was established by entrepreneur Shivani Verma after winning the prestigious ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ contest organized by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). With the technical guidance and mentoring of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR), a laboratory of the DRDO based in Bengaluru, the team successfully developed the AI tool that integrates face recognition with immutable physiological parameters such as gait and skeleton.

“‘Divya Drishti’ creates a robust and multi-faceted authentication system by combining facial recognition with gait analysis. This dual approach enhances the accuracy of identification, minimizing the risk of false positives or identity fraud, and has versatile applications across diverse sectors including defence, law enforcement, corporate, and public infrastructure,” explained the ministry.

The powerful AI tool has the potential to revolutionize authentication processes in various industries. It offers a more comprehensive and reliable method of verifying identities, making it particularly valuable in sectors where security is of utmost importance, such as defense and law enforcement. By combining facial recognition, which has become a widely used biometric authentication method, with gait analysis, which analyzes the unique way people walk, ‘Divya Drishti’ provides an additional layer of authentication, making it more difficult for individuals to impersonate someone else.

The development of ‘Divya Drishti’ under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) is a successful endeavor of the DRDO in promoting start-ups in the defense and aerospace industry to achieve the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. Samir V Kamat, secretary of the Department of Defence Research & Development and Chairman of DRDO, commended both the start-up and team DRDO on their achievement.

This breakthrough AI tool has the potential to transform how authentication is done, providing a more secure and reliable method for identifying individuals. With its versatile applications across various sectors, ‘Divya Drishti’ presents opportunities for enhanced security and efficiency in defense, law enforcement, and even corporate and public infrastructure.

In an era where security threats are advancing, the need for more robust authentication methods is paramount. The combination of facial recognition and gait analysis in ‘Divya Drishti’ offers a powerful solution that mitigates the risks of false positives and identity fraud, ensuring only authorized individuals gain access to sensitive areas or information. This technology is a testament to the power of AI and its potential to revolutionize security systems.

As AI continues to advance, we can expect further innovations in the field of authentication that will transform how we interact with technology and secure our identities. Tools like ‘Divya Drishti’ are just the beginning, and we can anticipate more sophisticated solutions in the future that will ensure the highest levels of security and accuracy.

In the words of Shivani Verma, the woman entrepreneur behind the development of ‘Divya Drishti’, “Our aim was to create a highly accurate, reliable, and versatile authentication system that surpasses traditional methods. With ‘Divya Drishti’, we are one step closer to achieving that vision and providing a more secure future for industries and individuals alike.”

With this groundbreaking AI tool, the future of authentication is set to be more secure, accurate, and efficient than ever before. The combination of facial recognition and gait analysis in ‘Divya Drishti’ offers a glimpse into the potential of AI in revolutionizing security systems and protecting our identities. As we step into a new era of technological advancements, ‘Divya Drishti’ paves the way for a safer and more secure world.
