How Infosys is Leading the Way in Training Employees in Generative AI

In an age where artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming industries, Infosys, one of the world’s largest IT companies, is taking the lead in equipping its workforce with the skills necessary to navigate the complex realm of generative AI. According to Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani, the company has already trained over 250,000 employees in generative AI, setting the stage for innovation and improved client service.

During a recent shareholder meeting, Nilekani highlighted the significant strides made by Infosys in harnessing the power of AI. The company is actively developing 225 generative AI solutions for clients and has filed 46 AI patents in the past year alone. Furthermore, Infosys has been at the forefront of advocating for AI technologies in 70 projects, firmly establishing itself as a leader in the field.

However, Nilekani acknowledged that while consumer AI has progressed rapidly, enterprise-grade solutions require a more gradual process of implementation due to their complexity. He emphasized that integrating AI across enterprises involves deeper integration with multiple systems, necessitating a carefully considered approach.

In response to these challenges, Infosys has committed itself to extensive education programs and continuous research and development efforts. By investing in multilevel training initiatives, the company aims to equip its workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to offer cutting-edge solutions using generative AI.

One key aspect of Infosys' training strategy is the utilization of GitHub Copilot, a coding assistant powered by AI. Employees have collectively coded over 30 million lines using this tool, greatly enhancing collaboration and productivity. This seamless integration of AI into the coding process allows Infosys to deliver efficient and innovative solutions to its clients.

The announcement comes at a time when artificial intelligence is gaining immense popularity globally, with conversational agents and AI-powered technologies becoming increasingly commonplace. Indian enterprises and startups are actively participating in this AI revolution, especially in areas such as fintech and customer support, where innovative use cases are being explored.

Infosys' commitment to training its employees in generative AI positions the company at the forefront of this technological transformation. By empowering its workforce with the latest AI skills, Infosys is poised to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and driving progress in the field.

In the words of Nandan Nilekani, “Infosys is fully committed to leading the evolution of generative AI. Our workforce is well-prepared to offer cutting-edge solutions that leverage the power of AI.” With a firm vision for the future, Infosys is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of generative AI and driving sustainable growth in the industry.
