AI Satellite Company STAR.VISION and Omani Firm Lens LLC Collaborate on Advanced Digital Twin City Platform

In a groundbreaking partnership, AI satellite company STAR.VISION and Omani firm Lens LLC have joined forces to develop an advanced digital twin city platform. The collaboration, announced during the 2024 COMEX Global Technology Show in Muscat, aims to revolutionize urban planning by combining artificial intelligence and satellite technology.

The platform, according to STAR.VISION, will leverage AI and satellite imagery to create 3D models for building detection, green cover analysis, and road mapping, among other applications. This cutting-edge technology has the potential to transform Oman’s urban planning, infrastructure management, and emergency preparedness in line with the Belt and Road Initiative and Oman’s Vision 2040 for smart city solutions.

Co-founder of STAR.VISION, Noor Fan, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “We believe that this partnership with Lens LLC will change the landscape of earth observation. Our goal is to reshape the future of urban planning by seamlessly integrating AI and satellite technology.”

This collaboration follows on from STAR.VISION’s previous milestone in August 2023 when they collaborated with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos University to launch WonderJourney-1A, Oman’s first AI-enabled satellite, into space. This was a significant step towards combining the power of AI and satellite technology to gather critical data and drive innovative solutions.

By harnessing the capabilities of AI and satellite imagery, the advanced digital twin city platform will provide city planners and decision-makers with valuable insights and data-driven solutions. The 3D models generated by the platform will enable accurate assessments of building conditions, identification of green spaces, and effective road planning.

Furthermore, the platform will support the realization of Oman’s Vision 2040 for smart cities, which aims to transform urban areas into sustainable, technologically advanced, and people-centric spaces. With the use of AI and satellite technology, cities can optimize resource allocation, enhance infrastructure management, and improve emergency response systems.

The collaboration between STAR.VISION and Lens LLC represents a significant milestone in the journey towards more intelligent and connected cities. As nations around the world strive to embrace technological advancements, partnerships like this will play a key role in shaping the future of urban planning.

In the words of Noor Fan, “Our aim is to revolutionize the way we plan and manage cities. By combining the power of AI and satellite technology, we can create a smarter, more efficient, and sustainable urban environment for future generations.”

As the partnership progresses, the advanced digital twin city platform will undoubtedly pave the way for new possibilities and innovations in urban planning. The fusion of AI and satellite technology has the potential to transform how cities are designed, managed, and experienced, ushering in a new era of smart and interconnected urban spaces.
