This state-of-the-art system was developed by a Chennai-based company and was initially installed in Kishtwar district’s Thathri. Following its success there, the system has now been activated at the Navayuga checking plaza in Ramban district’s Banihal area. This makes it the second location, after Kishtwar, to benefit from this technology. The aim is to make AI-based facial recognition an integral part of smart policing initiatives.
Previously, the Jammu and Kashmir Police faced challenges as they had to manually review footage from CCTV cameras placed across the Union Territory.
