In a move aimed at revolutionizing public safety, Valiance Solutions has launched CivicEye, an AI-powered surveillance system. This innovative system has the capability to monitor various instances of public disturbances and illegal activities such as traffic violations, theft, and unauthorized vendor encroachment. Valiance Solutions is working closely with local government bodies in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh to pilot the AI system in key cities, ensuring maximum efficiency and compliance with India’s data privacy regulations set by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
CivicEye, powered by native AI models, is designed to enhance public safety and make law enforcement operations more efficient. Built on Google Cloud, this surveillance system can process large-scale video data to offer real-time surveillance on roads and other public areas. It is equipped to detect traffic violations such as speeding and illegal parking, monitor public disturbances, track crowd density, identify road hazards like stray animals and potholes, and send alerts to authorities for necessary action. Crime detection tools are also integrated into CivicEye, enabling the system to spot incidents such as chain snatching and public brawls. Furthermore, it can monitor issues like unauthorized street vendors.
Valiance Solutions has partnered with local government bodies in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh to pilot this project in key cities, utilizing both existing CCTV systems and newly installed cameras for comprehensive monitoring of public safety. The front end of CivicEye can be accessed via a web portal as well as a mobile app, but it will only be provided to governing bodies and the police. The AI system is hosted in MeitY-empanelled data centers, ensuring data security and privacy.
Addressing concerns about privacy, Valiance Solutions confirms that CivicEye does not process or analyze faces, and information such as vehicle number plates will only be available to the authorities. The company also ensures limited access to the system, except for maintenance and updates. When questioned about the data used to train the AI models, Valiance Solutions clarified that publicly available datasets and simulation data created in-house were used.
To ensure accuracy and reliability, the company conducted internal testing. While some instances of hallucinations were reported, the accuracy for critical infractions such as theft was measured at an impressive 99 percent. For less critical infractions, the accuracy rate was claimed to be 97 percent.
CivicEye is currently being tested in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and Banda in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, the surveillance system is being installed in Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh. Valiance Solutions aims to finalize full deployment in these areas within the next couple of months and has plans to expand to more cities in the near future. With CivicEye, Valiance Solutions is making significant strides towards ensuring public safety in India through cutting-edge AI technology and data analytics.
In a statement, Valiance Solutions shared their vision for CivicEye, saying, “We believe that leveraging the power of AI can effectively enhance public safety and enable law enforcement agencies to tackle crimes more efficiently. With CivicEye, we aim to provide a comprehensive surveillance system that can make cities safer and more secure for everyone.”
